Wow, I find it fascinating how Georges Melies went from magician to experimenting with film and basically laying the foundation for the enormous sci-fi and special effects industry. The scenes he created are so incredibly innovative for his time. It's too bad he died broke and never got to see how ridiculously profitable the movie making and fx industry has become.
